Artist's Description
I hope you enjoy my painting of Holy Mary and the Christ Child. I painted this in honor of my own Mother. She always had this intriguing small relief sculpture about 4 inches in size that was made in Italy. It hung on her bedroom wall. I still cherish this piece. I am not sure where she got it from but it is now a family heirloom for me. I decided to paint it in the ancient technique of Egg Tempera Painting. It took me many weeks to complete due to the process. The Gold is real gold leaf applied with bole in the ancient technique also. I used colors that are favorites of mine. The original sculpture had more earthen tones of reddish orange. I tried to make this look as 3D as possible. I hope my Mother may see this from heaven. I hope this brings the joy and peace of the Season of Christmas to all who see it!!! Merry Christmas...

I have a great love for nature and all God's creation. In any artworks or photos I create, I try to reflect a moment of fleeting beauty as all things are but for an instant. I love to paint and use pastels. I paint in oils, acylics, and water colors depending on the piece. I also pursue the medieval technique of egg tempera painting.I also have begun digital painting which I create from scratch with a stylus. Photography also provides an instant in time. Judy has a BFA and a Masters Degree From RIT"S School for American Craftsman and Fine art. She spent many years as a glass artist and was able to reflect the light and colors of God's creation through this medium. She won many awards over the years and enjoyed creating new works...
