Description
In this one I tried to do a child like painting and tried to capture the emotion of the moments before Christ's death. This series of 3 watercolor studies are the result of young children's influence on me. A few years ago I was teaching a 3rd grade and it was the day before Easter break. I gave them watercolors and told them they could just paint whatever came to mind about Easter. While most painted joyful bunnies and colorful eggs, I was amazed to see a few painting images of Jesus and the cross. I teach in an inner city Public School so we are not allowed to teach religion. However the young children will often pour out their inner most feelings in art. I was so inspired by the works they created that I after class I stayed and using a child's watercolor set I began to paint stories from the Gospels. These are not thought out images, just quick studies where I tried to show emotion especially in the images of Christ on the Cross. I choose to post these now as today is Good Friday...
